I presume this is the best place to put a question regarding scanning seing as most if not all capsuleers here scan as part of their daily life. :)
I just tried to find data and relic sites in high sec, doing it as a practice for when I venture into wormhole space, and imidiately I struck a problem. Finally found a data site however I can't scan it down enough to be able to warp towards it, and from what I read scanning them down in high sec should be easier than in wormhole space, so if I am having trouble here will scanning them down in wormhole space be just plain impossible.
One of the 1st issues I could find behind as to why this is happening might be my poor fitting and skills, but then I started thinking that high sec is made for new players and my skills as an alpha pilot should be enough or is my logic wrong?
My current fit is:

I have core probe launcher I with core scan probes. In middle slots I have 3x scan rangefinding array and a single scan acquistion array. In rigs I put some rigs that improved data and relic efficiency of the said modules.
Any help and suggestions are welcome and apreciated.

If you get astrometrics to 4 and the support stills to 3, you can scan out any sig in a WH so certainly should be able to in HS.
back in the day i'd ask if it was a technique issue but really if you just put the default pinpoint formation on a sig and keep reducing the size and recentering, you're good to go.
As for the fit, I'd recommend using the gravity cap rigs for probe strength and get a pinpointing module in the mids.
I have maxed skills an alpha can have. (Atrometrics 3, Survey 3, Atrometric pathfinding and rangefinding on 2, can't even train Astrometric pinpointing)
I put different rigs cause I thought the stacking bonus might be too great and figured that I might have problems with the actual site because my skills were low.
I have since the post was made managed to muster courage to go into a wormhole (really exciting) and managed to scan down all the data and relic sites. I am happy with that so I guess there was no need for this post in the 1st place just some more trying.
